Questions, answered

What is Spur?

An app for spontaneous, in-person plans in Toronto. Someone posts "volleyball at Woodbine, 6pm" — people nearby tap in — everyone shows up and plays. That's the whole product.

Is it free?

Yes. Joining Spur and most events costs nothing. Some events carry a small refundable deposit — show up and it comes straight back. Ghost, and it doesn't. That's why plans on Spur actually happen.

Who can join?

Anyone 18 or older with a real mobile number. Every account is phone-verified — no bots, no burner accounts, no anonymous browsing.

How do I get the app?

Spur is in a closed iOS beta (TestFlight), Toronto-first. Email hello@spur.surf for an invite — or use the full app in your browser right now at app.spur.surf.

Is my location shared?

Never exactly. Your location is blurred to roughly one kilometre before it's stored, so other people only ever see your rough area. Details in the privacy policy.

How do deposits work?

Card details are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see your card number. Attend the event (or cancel with more than 24 hours' notice) and the deposit is refunded in full. No-show or cancel late, and the deposit goes to the host, minus a small platform fee.

Someone made me uncomfortable. What do I do?

Use Block and Report in the app — reports are reviewed by a human and acted on. If you're in danger, call local emergency services (911 in Canada) first. More in our safety guidelines.

Can I put my venue on Spur?

Yes — bars, courts, studios, tracks. Email hello@spur.surf with your venue's name and what you'd like to run.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → delete account. Your profile and personal content are removed, as described in the privacy policy.
